Are you pro-choice or pro-life? This is an “either/or” question. Either-or scenarios are usually put in place to isolate people into choosing sides. For someone to say they are Pro-Choice suggests the other opinion advocates No-Choice. Similarly, being Pro-Life may suggest the other opinion is Pro-Death. Each position can be seen as an attempt to delegitimize the opposing view. Journey Women’s Center chooses to be on the woman’s side. We are identified as Pro-Life, but that does not conclude that we are No-Choice. We hold that a person cannot truly be Pro-Choice if all options are not available to choose from.
When a woman of any age finds out she is pregnant, she may find herself at a crossroads. Do I want to terminate the pregnancy, or do I want to give birth to a child?
It is imperative for her to have all of the information needed before she will be able to exercise her choice with clarity.
Journey Women’s Center is Pro Woman
At Journey Women’s Center, women are the focus of our services. We are structured to provide information and emotional support to those who find themselves in a life changing situation. Consider these services and you’ll see how important they are:
- Free pregnancy test
- Why this matters: Finding out if she is actually pregnant is vital to a woman for her to know if there are other steps to take.
- Free ultrasound
- Why this matters: As early as five to six weeks, a pregnancy can be detected by an ultrasound. If it is an ectopic pregnancy, medical attention should be sought immediately. Note: Taking an abortion pill in conjunction with an ectopic pregnancy can lead to serious health consequences. It is therefore very important for a woman to not just know whether a test strip shows a positive result*, but whether or not the pregnancy is an ectopic one.
- Caring staff
- Why this matters: There is no need for women to go on this road alone. We know how important this is and we want to be a positive, supporting voice in her life. Our focus is on the well-being of the woman.
- Information about all options
- Why this matters: A woman can’t choose the best option, unless she knows all of the options and support networks available to her.
- Post abortion support
- Why this matters: There are hundreds of thousands of abortions performed every year in America, and some women deeply regret the decision they’ve made, or feel was made for them. We are here to talk to women sharing in their hurt and offering encouragement. Abortion does not have to end a woman’s outlook on her life.

*A positive pregnancy test does not confirm a viable pregnancy. An ultrasound is needed to confirm viability, which includes confirmation of an intrauterine pregnancy, fetus, and heart rate. If the test is negative, the client can return in a week for another pregnancy test.
