What you need to know before TAKING

Abortion Pills

If you’re facing an unplanned pregnancy and considering abortion in Oklahoma, you may be looking for more information on buying abortion pills online.

Many telehealth abortion providers require an ultrasound before administering abortion pills, and we offer this service at no cost. The ultrasound will confirm and date your pregnancy, which determines the type of abortion procedure usually recommended.

The abortion pill (also known as Mifeprex, mifepristone, or RU-486) uses 2 drugs and is approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use in women up to 70 days (10 weeks) after their last menstrual period.

Online purchasers of the abortion pill bypass important safeguards designed to protect their health. The FDA strongly cautions against the use of mifepristone obtained over the internet. Because drugs purchased online are not the FDA approved versions of the drugs, they are not subject to FDA manufacturing controls, and there is no way to be sure exactly what they contain.1

Reasons You Need an Ultrasound

  • Learn how far along you are – A medication abortion could be very dangerous if your pregnancy is further along than you think. An ultrasound gives you more accurate information when you are making this decision.
  • Learn whether or not your pregnancy is located in the uterus – If the pregnancy is not in the uterus you will require immediate medical treatment.
  • Learn if your pregnancy is viable – About 10-20 percent of known pregnancies end in miscarriage. The actual number is likely higher because many miscarriages happen before pregnancy is detected.
